Nyan™Kiryu's Site (Archived): http://www42.tok2.com/home/nyankiryuold/
1/11/2026: Thanks to anonymous for pointing this out. So, Nyan Kiryu was good friends with taruse aka たるせ. Taruse had a site of his own (http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown-Knight/4064/, and http://taruse.hp.infoseek.co.jp/), but for some reason due to, "various circumstances", he shut it down sometime in 2004 [Source 1]. Then, shortly after in 2004, taruse came back due to being inspired from playing Samurai Shodown V on the PS2 (which you can read more in details in Japanese here: Source 2). As a result, he updated Yumeji Kurokouchi, and proxy released it on Nyan Kiryu's site, along with proxy releasing his new chars there too as time passed. In order to update Yumeji, you need to have the old version, so it was very possible that taruse still had all of his old MUGEN creations from his old site. But the thing is... taruse didn't re-release all his old MUGEN creations from his old site on Nyan Kiryu's site... Why? Well... idk why it happened, but it happened. Should have just left them up, or made them available again.
Another thing, I can't find direct confirmation that taruse made Zeami Stage and Okunenjyu Stage (stage of taruse's GB Yusuke). There is no author name in the def files, and no author name in the def files in most of Nyan Kiryu's stages except 2, Neo HonKon Stage and Shinjuku City Stage. I checked Nyan Kiryu's pages (here and here), his news, Fanaticmugen's news, and even CharaSoon!! board, but nothing. So, I'll just leave it as, "Nyan™Kiryu or taruse", for both of those stages. 1/26/26: And many, not all, of taruse's chars, not including his stages, were hosted at Randomselect sometime in 2007, unfortunately many of them edited by Unknown. 3/6/26: Fixed spelling issues at stage section. 5/19/26: Forgot to add the snds for You Takamiyagi. Added. Read more here on the different snd files. 5/22/26: Added download all here. 5/24/26: Thanks to LGM2006 for the info. Looks like Nyan Kiryu made an oopsie on Rugal Bee. I found the older and correct version in a compilation that has the right sff file and portrayal of Rugal Bee. Added it, and fixed/updated some things here and there.
Characters
- Usada Hikaru [Incompatible with 1.0 & 1.1]

Stages
- FFS Terry Stage [also bundled with Terry Bogard char]

poppy, sankuro, yumeji, yusuke, and zeami (+ their respective stages) are actually by taruse, nyan☆kiryu simply hosted them on his site.
ReplyDeleteGood catch. I'll separate them.
DeleteIt seems You Takamiyagi doesn't have her sound files (you had to download a sound pack for her in the site, there were 3 voice actress options)
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing that out. Will add.
DeleteThere are several things that I would probably like to correct with these creations:
ReplyDelete1. The standing animation .gif for Rugal Bee (the old version of his Shiena Bee) is actually wrong, as it just happens to be Elza Kanagusuku, but with some garbled colors for weird reasons. Not sure if it's just me or is it really the way it is. Because I know for a fact that the old version of Bee has a completely identical standing animation to the new version, only with a brighter color palette.
2. About that 16 year old version of Yuri Sakazaki, well, the unedited version of the char can actually be found in the old compilation "Mugen 1000", in case if you didn't realize that.
3. And finally, I must say it's important to note that Usada Hikaru is incompatible with M1.0 and M1.1b due to a bug that led her to run into an infinite ChangeState loop error, which is as almost as tedious as those assert failure errors that can be found in WinMUGEN. On a side note, if there's ever a character that had a similar problem like Usada, please also label him/her as incompatible with M1.0 and M1.1b.
Thanks for the information, but number 2 isn't quite true. 4 files were edited in October by Unknown, and when you compare them to Electrocaid's version, the file size are different. Nyan Kiryu said Yuri was last updated on July 14, 2002, so that's the version I'm looking for.
DeleteThere's Mami Fujisaki and Mikiko Mikihara from Tokimeki Taisen they made aswell.
